I have so many life updates to share, I figured today would be a good day to reflect on some moments that helped me start my 28th birthday on a high note.

First, I served Jury Duty for the first time back towards the end of May. I served as a juror for the Apple vs. Samsung case determining damages that were owed for design infringement.

Right after Jury Duty, I gave my two weeks notice for my job at Health & Safety office on campus and started a new job as an Event and Communications Coordinator. I didn’t really complete a full week before I was off to celebrate my wedding to Armando.

With the wedding out of the way, Armando and I could finally give 100% focus to our next goal of finding a home with income potential. We had been looking for the last 5 months and were honestly wondering if we should put the search off for a bit when our offer for home was accepted earlier this month. Since then, we’ve been moving out of our small Shattuck Studio in Berkeley into a 2 bed 1 bath Victorian in Oakland.

A year ago, I was hoping to make changes in my life, like a new career or a bigger space, but I would have never guessed that would have all happened in the span of 3 months. I guess it just goes to show when it rains it pours. I feel completely grateful for how well this year has turned out and look forward to spending 28 sharing more details of our home, baking in the new kitchen, home DIY projects, and getting to know Oakland better.

This year, I also want to keep working on myself and continue my education in some way. I also want to give back to the community and clear out the clutter. Moving has helped me identify that I do have a lot of stuff, and I want to focus on letting go more. Moving on from the past and into the present. It’s the best birthday gift I could ask for.
